First Visit
Your initial appointment at High Point Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery will involve a comprehensive surgical consultation. Your surgeon will review your medical history, evaluate the area of concern, discuss diagnostic findings, and outline appropriate treatment options. In certain straightforward cases, surgery may be performed the same day. More complex medical histories or treatment plans may require a separate surgical appointment.
What to Bring to Your Consultation
To ensure a smooth and complete evaluation, please bring:
-
Surgical referral slip and any available imaging
-
A current list of medications, medical conditions, and allergies
-
Medical and dental insurance information
Patients under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
If You Are Scheduled for IV Sedation or Anesthesia
A preoperative consultation and physical examination are required for any procedure involving IV anesthesia. Please follow these important instructions:
-
Do not eat or drink anything for eight hours prior to your procedure
-
A responsible adult must accompany you to the appointment, remain in the office, and drive you home
-
Wear comfortable clothing and avoid heavy makeup or facial products around the surgical area
Please inform our team of any medical conditions that could affect surgery or anesthesia—such as diabetes, hypertension, cardiac disease, artificial heart valves or joints, bleeding disorders—or if you take medications including anticoagulants, antiplatelet agents, or heart medications.
diagnostic imaging
If your dentist or physician has taken recent x-rays or CBCT scans, please have them forwarded to our office before your appointment. You may also bring them with you if coordination time is limited. When necessary, our facility is equipped to obtain high-resolution digital imaging to complete your diagnostic evaluation.
